New session begins April 19th (Friday)
11am to 11:45am
Welcome to a lifelong musical adventure! Emphasizing Kodály method and philosophy of music education. Columbia River Music Conservatory’s Early Childhood Music Education program initiates a life-long journey into the beautiful world of music and musicianship.
Children engage in age-appropriate singing, playing, dancing, guided and free movement, active listening and
improvisation. Through music games and play, children discover the basic musical elements in the context of a fun-filled and carefully sequenced curriculum. These students will expand their listening skills, engage in fun music reading-readiness activities, discover their musical self and find their own voices. These young musicians will also enjoy the social benefits that making music provides in a group setting.
The classes are designed for children ages 1 to 5 years old and their parent or caregiver to explore music. Each 45 minute class begins with a song written by our instructor to greet the children and make them feel welcome. Much of the music is repetitive so you and your toddler can easily follow along each week. We offer improvisation activities and the class explores sounds and movement through guided singing, movements and dances. Free dance and free instrument play follow improvisation. We also have “surprise” visits from a variety of musicians, encouraging your toddler to experience different genres of music and experiment on a new instrument. Each class concludes with a 10 minute segment of free and guided instrument play.
